Mating

Hello,

I did separate my Budgies to avoid any further mating, would you please advice when and if possible to put them back together.

Thank you and kind regards,

Answer:

Hi Nassera,

They don’t necessarily need to be separated to prevent breeding. The most important thing is to not give them a nest box. If you make the changes I suggested – reducing their light daily, no nest box or anything they can use as a nest, rearrange toys & perches in the cage, relocate the cage to a busy place in the house – this is usually enough to keep the birds from wanting to nest. I still wouldn’t recommend having the 3 birds together, since the green one was already being ignored by the other two. That one would be better off with anther budgie as a companion.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
