new budgie owner

Im just curious about feeding my budgie. I have ordered your pellets’, seeds, and nutriberries. am I supposed to offer them all ? like in three separate little bowls around the cage? or are nutriberries more so like a treat. I’ve never owned a bird and to be honest, I know nothing about them. so I have been researching for days but I just cant seem to find the answer to this specific question?

also, i have had her for about a week now and havent seen her take the first sip of water…im a little worried about that as well if you could maybe add some insight to that ?

thanks so much

Answer:

Hi Rhiana,

The pellets and Nutri-Berries are both nutritionally balanced and can be fed together, in the same dish if you want. The seeds in our foods are hulled, so the Nutri-Berries are 100% consumable. Sometimes you have to start by crumbling the berries until she learns to eat them. We don’t carry loose seeds because loose seed mixes can’t offer the nutrition she needs. The seeds in loose seed mixes still have a hull, so any added nutrients are lost when the bird removed the hull. Parakeets do not drink a lot of water each day, but I’m sure she is sneaking sips here and there.
