health issue

Hi, my name is Ami, and I am a proud owner of a 13mo male cockatiel, and I have noticed just today that one of his nostrils will close when he breathes out and one will stay open, then when he breathes in, both will be open… What does this mean? Should I take him to the vet and get this checked out? Please, Please, Please. I do not want anything to happen to him.

Answer:

Hi Ami,

It wouldn’t hurt to take him in for a check up. He might have something stuck in his nostril. It’s better to have him checked now, before it can turn into a serious issue. It sounds like you know your bird well, and since this is different enough for you to notice, then it could be something you have caught early.

Take care,

Brenda
