Music

Hello
We play tuba and accordion as a duo professionally, acoustically only, but we are loud. Is that likely to be painful to a cockatiel?

Answer:

Hi Francoise,

These particular instruments would probably be a bit too intense in the same room. As a musician, I’ve played violin for my birds and they enjoy it. Also, birds can be sensitive to vibrations, so a tuba might emit low tones or vibrations that are not comfortable for a bird. It would be best to only play in a separate room with doors closed. If you can set up a webcam, you can observe the bird’s reaction. It might pace frantically or lie low on the cage floor if the sound was too intense.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
