I would recommend looking at different travel cages and carriers – it’s hard to recommend a size because it depends on the birds and what they do best in. It isn’t a long move, but there are still precautions to take. Are your cockatiels all in the same cage? If placed together in a small cage, they might fight. So it’s best to test them in the smaller enclosure first. The travel cages should not have any toys hanging in them. And most birds do better with the cage partly covered. Passing vehicles can be scary to them. Make sure the cage doors are secured, and if any part of the cage comes apart, secure those places. Put a small amount of water in the cup – a fresh slice of orange can provide moisture that won’t spill. And maybe some millet spray as a treat to encourage them to eat.
