My coworker owns chickens, how careful do I have to be?

My coworker owns chickens in her farm and I own parrots at home, how careful do I need to be when coming home to prevent spread of any potential avian diseases? Thank you

Answer:

Hi Jenny,

Are you working at this farm? Unless you are in direct contact with the chickens, or go into their enclosure, there is nothing to be concerned about. If you have been in a poultry enclosure, you should remove and disinfect your shoes when you get home, as well as wash your clothes, and wash your hands thoroughly before handling your birds.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
