taming a baby Cockateil without parents around

I want to tame a baby cockatiel , he is 6 weeks old now, earlier he was liking to come to me and spend time with me, when i was feeding hi m also , but since i started keeping him with his parents , he is showing less interest in coming out and listening to me or spending time with me. Please suggest what to do . He have also stopped eating from my hand.
and when i take out him from cage, his parents will start screaming so he also gets distracted.

Answer:

Hi Rachana,

You can only make so much progress until his parents have weaned him. Once he is weaned, he should be moved to his own cage. Then he will be much easier to work with. The parents will be ready for him to leave the cage when they aren’t feeding him anymore. Keep trying to handle him some and then he will be weaned in a couple of weeks or so anyway.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
