My birds are mating but not laying eggs
We give them a lot of privacy they daily mate 5 to 6 times a day but the female and male both goes inside nest box but doesn’t lay an egg

Hi,
It takes a lot of patience to breed birds. You can do everything right and still not end up with chicks. The birds need to be old enough, you need to feed a nutritionally balanced diet – not seeds. You should be feeding an egg food to get them in condition – this can be a commercial dry egg food or you can cook an egg with the shell washed, crushed and cooked with the egg. And of course they need privacy. Some pairs simply do not make good breeders. Your pair might be eating the eggs before you find them. There may be something wrong with the female. Depending on what species you have, if you can’t tell the sex by looking at them, maybe you actually have two males. There is nothing else you can do but hope they eventually lay eggs.
Thank you for asking Lafeber,
