So i removed the chick and iam not sure if did the right thing or not. Will they abondon the remaining 3 egg ?

They are going in and out from the nest box is this normal can you plz tell me what should i do next.

Answer:

Hi,

I’m sorry about the little chick – removing it was the right thing to do. Sadly this is very common with the first clutch. Most first clutches fail. The parents are still learning and often make mistakes.  If these eggs, do not hatch, then remove the nest box, rest the pair for 6 months, and then let them try again. If the rest of the eggs hatch and chicks survive, remove the nest box as soon as the chicks leave the nest, so the parents do not breed again too soon. The parents should be rested in between every clutch for 6 months.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,
