Eggs infertility

Hello
My raw parrots have layed 4 eggs ,starting from the end of January. They layed their first egg on 20th of January and completed their clutch till 1st February .I checked their eggs to see if they are fertile on 26th February and they were all infertile.
The shape of the eggs was perfect and both the male and female mated . Both of them are tamed.
Their diet is also very good. I feed them with seeds, almonds, fruits and vegetables.
I want to know why are the eggs infertile. And also the age of the pair is about 2.5 years

Answer:

Hi,

It’s not easy to breed birds. You can do everything right and still not see any success. I would recommend improving their diet. Seeds offer very little nutrition. I would convert them to a pelleted diet before you let them breed again. They also need to rest for 6 months in between each clutch. I believe you have Alexadrine parakeets, as they are called Raw parrots in some countries. If so, they are really too young to breed. I would wait until they are at least 5 years old before letting them breed again.
