My Amazon picks and chews constantly, and pulls feathers. I think it’s hormonal. I have restricted protein, used bitter spray and CBD oil for birds. Nothing works and I don’t want a naked bird. Any suggestions?

Hi Patty,
Here is Dr. Tully’s response:
I would suggest speaking with an avian behaviorist if no medical reason has been identified.
Hi Patty,
From a behavior point of view – First do as Dr. Tully recommends and rule out medical causes with your avian vet. Sprays are ineffective, and CBD trials have been inconclusive. FDB is an extremely complicated issue. I would not restrict protein – they need protein for healthy skin and feathers. If you think it is hormonal, you may want to check out our webinars on hormones on youtube – we have an entire playlist and are covering hormones again this month.
