Conure has to have foot amputated

My green cheek conure is having his foot amputated in the morning.
I’m so worried for him as he eats with his feet, holds his food with one, I’m not sure how he will eat well without it and how he will move around.

Answer:

Hi,

I’m sorry to hear about your little guy. He should adjust quickly – birds heal quickly and soon learn to deal with the loss of a foot or wing. You probably won’t even need any special set up for him. Watch him as he recovers and you will be able to see if he needs different perches, for example.

Take care,

Brenda
