Feeding my rock pigeon

Hello,
I rescued a young rock pigeon that will stay with me as he bonded to me. Can I actually feed him with the classic nutriberries that are given to my diamond doves ( I buy the bucket of classic nutriberries for cockatiel and crush them for my doves , or should I give him rather a pigeon seeds mix ? Someone told me I should not give him nutriberries. My other question is how many nutriberries balls should be given during daily to an adult rock pigeon if this is his staple diet, and I know nutriberries are enriched so I thought it would be a good thing for him as he also is molting.

Answer:

Hi,

The crushed Nutri-Berries will be fine. A pigeon mix has some larger seeds, but generally they are not fortified in any way. As for how many, you will have to see how many he can eat. He isn’t going to eat too many since they have balanced nutrition, so he can have what he wants. You can also offer some cooked brown rice with mixed veggies and some leafy greens.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
