Female African grey showing aggression to male

I have a breeding pair of African greys.

Ever since I reintroduced the nest box, the female has started showing aggression to the male. Chasing him off perches and not letting him get too close.

What should I do?

Answer:

Hi,

If these birds have produced for you before, they may not have been rested for long enough. Six months is the minimum, but many pairs only nest once a year, just as in the wild. I would take the box back down until they are acting like a bonded pair. If this is a pair that has never bred, then they simply may not be compatible as mates.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
