Indian ringneck

Have a 10 month old Indian ringne k. Hes hand tamed he comes to me on my own. Only problem is. He likes to lightly bite my fingers on ear. He gentle most of the time but then he will Bite to hard. He’s not trying to hurt me. Is there anyway I can teach him to not do that. He’s a good companion and I have a jenday conure too. They tolerate each other

Answer:

Hi!

He is being curious and doesn’t understand how hard he can nibble. When training him, you can only use positive reinforcement – treats or praise. You can’t punish a parrot. I’ll give you the link to our behavior and training pages and they should help you a lot. You must understand their behavior to be able to understand how to train a parrot.
