Moulting

I just got a yellow canary a month ago. He or she? started moulting a week ago. Should I be concerned? I thought they only moult once a year in late summer.

Hi,

Captive birds can molt any time of year based on your indoor temperatures. A change of environment can also trigger a molt. I wouldn’t worry about it at all. He will lose feathers throughout the year, and typically go through a full molt once or even twice a year.
