YELLOW NAPED AMAZON

I am from New Delhi, INDIA. These days the night temperature is about 9 degrees and day time max. about 18 degrees. I have a yellow naped well bonded AMAZON pair in my aviary. I have seprated them from the aviary and have given them a seprate room with a big cage in that room. But they are not entering the breeding box. Please Help and let me know the reason.

Answer:

Hi,

Amazons are not easy to breed. Even if conditions are perfect, they may not breed. Usually they breed when the weather is warm and days are longer. Right now even though you have them inside, the outside temperatures are too low for breeding. They also need to get used to the area you moved them to. Wait until the weather warms up and they may show signs of mating. You need to keep them in one place and give them plenty of privacy. Every time you move a pair, they have to get used to the new location and this can take months or longer.
