Coacktiel bird not going into nest box after mating many times

Hi
my adult pairs of cockatiel aren’t going to the nest box after mating many times. It’s almost been a month since they are mating. What should I do?

Answer:

Hi,

Mating does not have to result in nesting and laying eggs. There is nothing you can do to force a pair to breed. Give them plenty of privacy and hopefully they will settle down and lay eggs. Breeding birds is not easy and it takes a lot of patience. Birds can mate off and on for months and never lay eggs, and some birds never lay eggs at all. All you can do is wait and hope they want to breed.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
