Newborn cockatiel running around cage

My newborn cockatiel, I had 2 who bred 3 baby sadly one flew away but 2 remained. I separated one and put him in his own cage it’s day 2 now and he won’t stop running around cage and I’m really looking forward to taming him. What should I do?

Answer:

Hi,

If he is fully weaned and eating on his own, then being in a separate cage now is where he should be. You just need to give him more time to get used to it – 2 days isn’t long enough. He will settle down soon and start exploring, but you can’t expect fast results with this or with taming. It can take weeks or months to make progress with a bird. You have to be patient or you aren’t going to be able to work with him.
