Traumatized budgie

Hi there my name is Paula
I’m trying to help a lady interstate who has lost her very tame chatty bird
One exactly like him had been found in the area and doesn’t talk
Is it possible it’s due to his trauma as he’s been lost for 6 weeks in the bush

Answer:

Hi Paula,

Yes, absolutely. The best way to tell if he is the same bird is for him to be returned to familiar surroundings and people. He would likely calm down after a few days and interact with his owner. In some cases, they instantly recognize their owner and show their previous personality. I know often when someone finds a bird, they want to keep it if the owner isn’t located. Hopefully they will bring the bird to this lady’s home and agree to let her keep him temporarily to see if it is her bird, and of course he would remain with her if he is.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
