My cockatiel behavior

Thank you so much for all the advice it was so weird because I have a big cage that has six cockatiels total and she is one of them when I first had them I thought they were all boys because it was like 4 yrs and no eggs from any of them so I was like ok I have all boys then last year is when she mated with the one male and then turned on him after she layed eggs but let the other male be with her and raise the eggs she had 3 live births but one didn’t make it now the other 2 are healthy 8 month old cockatiels and so far she has 3 eggs and is with the male she likes to raise her eggs with and those two are in there own cage so I don’t know why she just mates with the one but chooses the other to raise them anyway thank you for your advice and I live in Arizona so we have 12 sun and 12 night

Answer:

Hi,

Basically she is confused because she had access to so many males. In the wild, only one male would be her mate, and he would chase others away. As for the light, you can adjust their exposure to light by covering the cage early in the evening.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
