black cockatoo

I have a pair of black cockatoos and have had them for over 20 years just wondering why the hen won’t sit on her eggs

Answer:

Hi,

There is no way to know why some parrots won’t incubate their eggs. After this long, it is unlikely she will change. These birds are so rare in captivity, they really should be in a breeding program, unless you have been incubating the eggs in an incubator. You should try to talk to someone who is an expert in breeding whichever species of black cockatoos you have. You may have the wrong type nest box, or maybe it’s the cage, nesting material, etc.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
