Help me

Hi , i have 2 cockatiel, they both arent tamed, but they eat from my hand normally, just scared a little, the male bonded with the female 4 to 5 months ago, but he always bite the female, and she sleeps a little too much. The male spends sometimes minuts in the nest, but the female doesnt. Should i seperate them ? Or should i remove the nest ? The female seems normal, she eats , but she sleeps more now.

Answer:

Hi,

You should remove the nest box until the pair is bonded. You didn’t mention their age, but they need to be old enough. Cockatiels should be at least 2 years old before you put them together. Then you wait until they bond – sitting together, feeding each other and finally mating. This is when you can give them a nest box.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,
