I am about to adopt 2 conures of 1 or 2 months old. But I have a few questions in mind.
1. When I have to travel for a week or a few days, will they be okay if I left with my family member or friends in a cage ?
2. If yes then, how am I supposed to train them ?
Answer:
Hi,
There is a huge difference between a 1 month old chick and a 2 month old. At one month, you will still be handfeeding the chick a formula as most of his food. At two months, the bird is starting to wean, but really should not be fully weaned yet. Please ask about this before buying these birds. If these are to be pets, it is best to only get one bird. If you get two, they should each have their own cage. When you cage two birds together, they will almost always end up bonding and lose interest in being pets. They will have no reason to interact with people when they have another bird as their companion. As for going out of town, you can have someone come in and care for them, or take them to someone’s house. I’m not sure what you mean about training them for this? As for a cage, they should always be in a cage when you are not interacting with them. If you let them roam freely, they can do a lot of damage, and they can get into things that could harm them.
