weaning baby budgie

my budgies have a baby which is 3 weeks old had to take the female out because she was fighting with the male so the baby is with the male he seems to ignore it at time the baby is picking up seeds and vegies from the dishes at the bottom of the cage, the male will feed it if I bring it up to him and may go down to feed it should i worry or take him out and place the female in the cage.

Answer:

Hi,

I would try removing the male and putting the female back, then watch closely. If you have not removed the nest box, you need to do that before you switch the parents. The female may have been attacking the male because he was trying to get her to mate again. The nest box always needs to be removed as soon as the chicks can leave it. Hopefully the female will finish weaning the chick.
