Conure lost all her tail feathers

I accidentally leaned in my parro and she lost all her tail. One feather has blood in rest all and come out. Wht should I do? She is active. And is flying. But will she be fine??

Answer:

Hi,

As long as there was not blood coming from the bird, then she should be fine. If a blood feather is broken, it will continue to bleed until the rest of the feather is pulled out. In this case, it sounds like the entire feather came out, so the bleeding stopped. Since birds are prey species, the tail will sometimes release if grabbed or held down, as a defense mechanism. The feathers will start growing back probably in a couple weeks and will take a few weeks to fully grown back in. As long as the pressure was only on the tail and not the body, she should be fine.
