How to make bond

Hello , I have a green winged macaw pair I just bought it from another person they are not familiar with each other how I can make their bond want to breed them in future

Answer:

Hi,

There is nothing you can do to make a pair bond. Macaws of that size need to be closer to 10 years old to breed. Did the person provide proof of DNA sexing that matched leg bands? If not, I would recommend that you have DNA sexing done to be sure you have a male and female. Had the person tried to breed the birds?  Usually if someone sells a pair, it’s because the birds did not breed for them. If the birds already live together, all you can do is give them plenty of privacy and hope they bond as a pair. If they aren’t together yet, you can put them in cases side by side until they show an interest in each other. Parrots are very hard to breed, and if you have never bred birds before, a Macaw pair is not a good starter pair. Most people start with small bird pairs to learn more about breeding. I would recommend trying to find a reputable macaw breeder and ask their advice.
