cockatiel

My bird must be thirty years old. For the past week he has been sleeping on the bottom of the cage. with ruffled feathers. He still comes up to eat. Does this mean he is on his way out? He seem extra tired. Not active today . He has no discharge at his beak and number 2 seems fine

Answer:

Hi,

Yes, 30 is very old. Possibly he’s in his final days. It is likely age related, since he is still eating and drinking. I have to advise you to consider taking him to an avian vet. As the owner, you can make the decision not to put him through that type stress. It’s hard to have a senior  – continue the good care you have always given him, for him to have lived this long.

Take care,

Brenda
