I have had my budgie for over 6 months and he still doesn’t trust me. He’ll let me watch him eat and be near him without freaking out. He doesn’t take food from my hand and when I take him out he climbs on top of the curtains. I live by myself and have to work for 7 hours but try my best to socialize with him. I don’t know what to do.

It can take a long time to tame a bird that wasn’t hand reared. I would recommend that you read our pages on behavior and training in order to have a better understanding of him and know how to work with him. You need to have a lot of patience and not try to take thing too fast. Keep in mind he is a prey species, so when you reach for him, he feels like a predator is trying to catch him. He needs to trust you and learn to trust your hands.
