Male Cockatiel aggressive behaviour
Hello, My male cockatiel is about 3 years old and has increasingly become more aggressive since last christmas (where i took him to my moms house which he knows). When we came back he became more aggressive and seems to be territorial about every space in our apartment. If i had never taken him to my mom’s house before I would understand why his behaviour changed. He is so aggressive now, I work at my desk and he flies over and putters around on it and then from the opposite side suddenly lunges over and wants to attack. Or he walks over on the floor and wants up (like he always does) and then once I picked him up and lifted him he bites me so hard that it draws blood. My son is scared of him since we came home from Christmas. I don’t want to lock my cockatiel up in his cage the whole day, but I think he may have become territorial over the entire apartment. He’s no longer the sweet bird I had. I thought that it may just be breeding season that causes this. I’m at my wit’s end and even contemplating whether I should give him up for adoption. I can’t have him attack an injure me or my son. It will break my heart to give him away.
If you have any advice, please forward. Thanks, Verena
