young male budgie

I have several budgies but one is a male less than 1 yr old hand tamed so I can handle him with out a problem the other day while out of his cage he landed on my shoulder and nipped my face put him back in his cage I think this may be hormonal since he never did this before.

Answer:

Hi,

I don’t recommend letting a pet bird on your shoulder. This puts you at a disadvantage and at risk of being bitten. If he shares a cage with the other birds, he may be getting less tame as he bonds with other birds. If you want him to remain a pet, he needs to be in his own cage, and you need to spend some one on one time with him each day.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,
