Sibling budgies

I bought 2 male baby budgies they are siblings, I have just found out the siblings are female and a Male plus a male I had originally had. Should I seperate the female and get another female for company?

Answer:

Hi,

If you plan to breed the birds, then you need to have unrelated birds to pair with each sibling. You should never breed related birds. The birds need to be at least 2 years old before you pair them and set them up for breeding. And you can only have one pair of birds per cage, and one nest box per pair. You can’t breed with 4 birds in the same cage, if that was your plan. They should be on a nutritionally balanced diet like pellets, along with leafy greens and chopped veggies. When they are old enough to breed, offer them an egg food daily while they are breeding and feeding chicks. This can be a dry commercial egg food or you can cook an egg with the shell washed, crushed and cooked with the eggs.
