FULL SPECTRUM LIGHTING

NEED ONE SPECIFIC ANSWER TO LIGHTING PARAKEET CAGE MANY DIFFERENT RESPONSES NONE DEFINITIVE HOW MANY HOURS USING FULL SPECTRUM OR FLOURESCENT LOW WATT BULB 12 INCHES FROM CAGE TOP

Answer:

Hi,

There is no definitive answer because there has been no scientific research to even prove that full spectrum lighting makes a difference. However, it probably doesn’t hurt as long as you use the newer low/no flicker type and you do not use it as the primary lighting source. Most experts recommend placing the light 12 inches or more above the cage to lower the risk of eye injury. The amount of recommended time varies greatly but all agree to a limit of 6 hours, certainly no more than 8.
