No tail feathers

My 10 yr old cockatiel has not grown any tail feathers in about a year. We try to give him fruit and veggies but it just sits there. He is on a multi vitamin seed and molting food when needed.

Answer:

Hi,

You should take your bird to an Avian Vet. There are a lot of things that can affect feather health, including poor nutrition. A fortified seed mix doesn’t provide what he needs, because he removes the hulls and the vitamins are lost with the hull. A pelleted diet or our foraging diets would provide complete nutrition, even if he doesn’t eat fresh foods.
