Tail feather

What does it mean if my conured has a barb on the tail exposed without feathers?

Answer:

Hi,

The bird may have stripped the feather himself. There are also some viruses that can affect feather growth. If it grew in this way, it’s more concerning. You may want to go ahead and take him to an avian vet to rule out a health issue. If everything turns out normal, then he likely did it and you need to address this before it turns into a problem.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,
