Can I put shredded newspaper inside of a new bird nest?

Can I put news paper inside of a birds nest for a cockatiel?

Hi,

No – definitely not. Paper will just get wet and moldy. Most cockatiels will not use nesting materials, other than their own feathers. You can put a thin layer of natural Aspen wood shavings. Do not use pine, cedar or other woods as they have dust and aromatic oils that can be toxic.
