feeding greens

I have 8 budgies they love greens should I feed them greens everyday or not I do feed them spinach, dandelions ( pesticide free) I don’t want to over whelm their systems. also how to introduce 2 budgie brothers to each other so I can save cage space.

Answer:

Thank you for reaching out to Ask Lafeber. It’s wonderful that your budgies enjoy their greens, and it’s perfectly safe to offer leafy greens such as spinach and pesticide‑free dandelion greens every day as long as they are part of a balanced diet and not the only fresh food they receive. Most budgies benefit from a variety of greens rotated throughout the week, and offering them daily will not overwhelm their system as long as you avoid very large portions and remove leftovers after a few hours. To introduce two budgie brothers so they can eventually share a cage, start by placing their cages side‑by‑side for several days so they can see and hear each other without direct contact, then allow short, supervised out‑of‑cage time together to observe their interactions. If they show relaxed body language, no chasing, and no territorial behavior, you can try placing them in a neutral, freshly arranged cage together and monitor closely to ensure they settle in peacefully.
