Thoughts on sleep sacks,
I have a 7 month old male cockatiel (DNA confirmed). He is very tame, very social, and a joyful companion. He is my first cockatiel…as I have always had canaries. Quite the difference, however I enjoy him immensely. I live alone with him in a quiet household. I have noticed that when I am working on my laptop, and he is out, he likes to hang out behind the open screen and just peeks out once in a while…like he enjoys the little cave. What would be the benefits or drawbacks of getting him a sleep sack or hideaway for his cage? I don’t want him to be hiding in it all day. Do cockatiels ever sleep overnight in them? He has had a few night frights, the most recent one was pretty bad and resulted in a broken blood feather. I’ve made modifications at bedtime to help prevent injury for any future episodes, like removing his ladder and a few certain perches…but wondering if he might use a sleep sack and would that help prevent the night frights. I just don’t want him to become a recluse.
