I have 2 questions.
My 2 years old GC pineapple conure pallet food also include Zupreem fruit blend the colorful pallet.
I wonder if there is a need to replace that due to its high sugar content?
Kindly advice me
My 2nd question, I give him pine nuts 4to 5 daily for training purpose.
Is it okay to have
these nuts everyday?
He is active healthy bird.
Thanks a lot
Best, Asma

Answer:

Hi Asma,

If you are concerned about the sugar, then don’t offer that particular pellet. It’s OK to have some sugar in a bird food, because parrots do encounter sugars in the wild. But if the amount is too high, it borders on being a junk food.

Looking at the nutritional value of pine nuts, I’m not sure I would give him more than one per day. A training food should be a small bite of something, if you are giving the bird several during a training session. An entire pine nut takes time to eat, and can be filling. I would chop it in small pieces that he can eat quickly. This makes for a more productive training session, also, because you shouldn’t be waiting for him to finish a large treat.
