Hello so I had a Australian ring neck parrot
So one day we saw that our parrot is sick and we took him to the vet the vet said it was a flu and vet gave medicine we gave the birdie medicine after a week he started feeling well we were happy but like after 3 days my sister gave my parrot medicine as always. we were not home for an hour we came and saw our bird dead I’m the cage we could see he fell from his stick
And I have couple more questions
Is it ok if we have a air freshener in the other Room is it the problem
And umm I thought can’t be have a mold infection?
His symptoms were:
•bobbing tail
• always sleeping
• fluffed feathers
•not singing
•heavy breathing
But he was eating and drinking as always
Or could he had to much medicine?
Can you please answer me as quick as possible. I would feel better :/

Answer:

Hi Camila,

I’ll address the air freshener since I answered the rest in your first post. Most air fresheners should not be sued around birds. The kind you plug in can definitely be toxic. It is possible that the bird was slowly being poisoned with a freshener that close, depending on what kind it is.

Mold is bad for pets and their owners. If there was a mold issue, it might have made the bird sick. Bacterial infections are much more common, however.

Again, sorry for your loss, but only the Vet could have given a possible answer if a necropsy was done on the deceased bird.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,
