Breeding Cockatiels

My cockatiels are active but they are not showing any signs of breeding. They have mated and alligned there breeding nest . But they didn’t lay eggs. Now they are spending whole time inside breeding box.

Answer:

Hi Rahul,

This is a good sign that they are getting close to laying eggs. Breeding birds need privacy, so leave them alone as much as possible and be patient and hopefully they will follow through with eggs soon. It is not easy to breed birds and not all birds will make good breeders. Laying eggs does not always result in chicks. So all you can do at this point is be patient and hope for the best.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
