3 month cockatiel not pooping?

My cockatiel had his poo stuck to his feathers near his vent for last three days . I cleaned the poo from time to time but it was happening again and again. Today he didn’t poop at all. Like not even once. His behavior is normal no changes. Sleep is also normal. Any idea why this is happening and what should I do?

Answer:

Hi Tanvi,

I would take him to an Avian Vet as soon as possible. It sounds like he has something going on, possibly a bacterial infection which is very common in hand fed birds. But if left untreated, he can die. It’s definitely alarming if he hasn’t pooped at all in a day, as he may have some sort of obstruction. It’s not a good idea to wait any longer since this has already been going on for a few days.

Take care,

Brenda
