About finches breeding

My finches laid 4eggs. Female incubated it. But no chicks even after 21 days. So the female left the nest and it started to lay eggs in another nest. Do the eggs hatch??

Answer:

Hi Vasuki,

It’s best to only have one nest, for this reason. Eggs do not always get fertilized, but when they don’t hatch, the female still needs to be rested for 4-6 months before you let her have a nest and eggs again. I would discard these new eggs and remove all nests and not give her a nest again for 4-6 months. Otherwise she will get in poor health and won’t be able to lay good eggs or hatch healthy chicks.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
