AFRICAN LOVE BIRD CANT WALK


Hi,there my African love bird is unable to walk it’s egg hatched baby in my house which is now 1 month even it cant
Stand it’s not bending it’s legs by its own
It’s the second egg hatched baby the 1st one was perfectly all rite but it make sound as normally and it eats well also and also the feather colours came pls can you tell me why isn’t walking

Hi Rafhan,

Your birds may have an illness or it could be something like low calcium. If your birds had chicks, and then turned around and laid eggs again, the hen may have a sever calcium deficiency. It’s not good for birds to lay eggs again too soon. A pair should be rested for 6 months between each clutch, whether they hatch or not. And you should always have a cuttlebone for the female and another source of calcium – cooking an egg with the shell washed, crushed and cooked with the egg is good to offer daily to replace the calcium and protein she loses when forming and laying eggs. I would take the birds to an avian vet as soon as possible to see if they can be helped.
