The pet shop said that it was the diet. January 11 2022 he was whittling his neck his beak was yellow and was throwing up. all I want to know is was I sold a sick bird? When he was sold to me he was healthy.

Answer:

Hi Anna,

I’m sorry to hear about your lovebird – they should live a lot longer than 2 years.

There is no way to know if the new bird was sick when you bought him without taking him to an Avian Vet for a diagnoses and treatment. Of course the pet store wants to protect themselves, and by taking the bird back, you have no proof of a sick bird. It is probably best to just request a refund if they are trying to blame you. When you buy a bird, always find out if they have a guarantee, and then take the bird to an Avian vet for a wellness/new bird exam. Otherwise you have no protection for yourself if the bird dies. You should also buy the same food the bird was being fed at the sellers. If the diet isn’t a good one, you can change it later after the bird settles in.
