I’m sorry about the little chick, but if you breed birds, you will lose chicks sometimes. It’s best to leave the surviving chick with the parents. Its chances are much better with them. Cockatiels usually die when you try to hand feed them at that age. There may have been something wrong with the second chick. You really don’t know. If this is their first clutch, it’s normal for things like this to happen. The parents need to learn, and the first clutch almost always fails because they make mistakes. But if you don’t let them work it out, then you shouldn’t let them breed again. It’s not easy to breed birds, and chicks are going to die sometimes. It’s the down side of breeding and not everyone can handle this. But you need to let the parents learn how to do this if you want to breed them again.
