battery heater

I have a Grey and the most scary happening is when the electric goes off….I can take the cold for a while BUT Piewacket can’t so I have been looking for some kind of battery run small heater to just help in his 10×10 room to stay at least at 74 .So, any ideas?? No I have no other place or friend etc etc to take her to

Answer:

Hi,

Birds can actually tolerate cold temperatures much better than extreme heat. If you can tolerate it, your Grey should be OK. You can cover all but the front of the cage during these times to keep in his own body heat. Most parrots are fine if the temperature is a low as 50F. If it gets much colder, this can start getting too cold for a bird. I’m not aware of any battery heaters, but you might try searching Amazon. We did have a recent webinar about preparing for things like power losses and the presenter discussed some generator options, as well as heat panels from Sweeter Heater.
