Bengaleze Finch

My Bengaleze finch has it’s beak open & closing as though it is panting & gasping for air. It also flicks it’s head from side to side now & then. Otherwise it is in good health. It is flying around, eating & drinking OK. I have isolated it in a cage from my other finches & budgies that are in an indoor aviary. What is wrong with it & can you recommend a cure & prevention if I need it for my other birds & the future please.

Answer:

Hi John,

Unfortunately it is not possible to diagnose something like this without an exam. I would recommend taking your bird to an avian vet ASAP and let them know that you have a flock at risk. There are a number of things that can cause this but the bird needs to be seen by a Vet.

Take care,

Brenda
