Bird tricks

How do I get my conure to roll over

Answer:

Hi Figi,

This is a vulnerable position for a parrot and it really is not a beneficial trick to try to teach him. Some parrots do naturally like to roll on their backs when playing. But I would recommend that you first work on some natural behavior modification before attempt a trick like rolling over. Behavior modification is teaching a bird to do a natural behavior on cue, or modifying a natural behavior. It helps build a good relationship between bird and owner. Trick training is more advanced and can damage your bird’s trust in you if you don’t know what you are doing. I would Google behavior modification for parrots and get some ideas that way.
