Breeding
Hi, Iam VIGNESHWARAN and i bought a cockatiel at 17 Dec 2020 adult pair . 15month’s later it has layed 7 eggs and no one hatches from it. Still now they didn’t lay egg . What I want to do for breeding ?
Hi,
It takes a lot of patience to breed birds, and it isn’t easy. You can do everything absolutely perfectly for them, and still not end up with eggs or chicks. All you can do is make sure they have a nutritious diet and a quiet, private place for breeding. They need the right type of nest box and it should be attached to the outside of the cage, as high as possible. Once they are set up for breeding, they need to mostly be left alone. They need to feel like they have a safe place to raise chicks with plenty of healthy food so they can take care of the chicks.
Some pairs will never produce chicks and just are not good breeders. If you bought this as a breeding or proven pair, they may be an older pair that has gotten too old to breed. Unfortunately there is no way to tell their age. Again, provide what they need and hope they breed. There is nothing you can do to make them breed and lay eggs.
Thank you for asking Lafeber,
